Effect of Adding Maggot (Black Soldier Fly) On Wet Food Against Morphology Conditions and Cat Physiology
Indonesia continues to have problems supplying meat bone meal (MBM) or meat meal as an ingredient in animal feed. Indonesian animal feed import value remains high. This is due to various factors such as: availability is limited, production is still small and scattered, availability is unsustainable (natural and seasonal) and their quality varies. Based on existing problems, the researchers said he could offer a solution to He-by making meat bone meal (MBM) from maggots. Maggots are larva of the insect Hermetia illucens. In this study, researchers used experimental method to obtain study data. Experiment made wet cat food from maggots (Black Soldier Fly). The purpose of this research is to develop innovations in wet food manufacturing that may affect the availability of meat bone meal (MBM) and to determine the efficacy of maggot-based wet food for weight gain cats. Researchers found that cats added maggots to wet cat food, gaining 100g in a week, which was effective in helping cats gain weight. Cats fed wet food maggots also experience physiological changes, including: being more active in running and hair growth becomes moredense.
